Earlier in the summer I worked with this darling couple to create their simple two-sided photo wedding invitation. And now that they're married I get to post it! Sarah & Brock wanted something that would span the styles of both the casual reception they held at a park the week before their wedding, and the elegant setting of Salt Lake City's Tuscany, where they celebrated the night of their marriage. We combined a handwritten font with an elegant swash script in their wedding colors, and used their favorite engagement photos to set off the text. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Ekins
Not long ago I had the pleasure of designing this lace-motif letterpress invitation suite for Kendra & Jeff, and last week they tied the knot! Congratulations you two!
Whew! What a week! 'Tis the season of love and wedding invitations! This week I'm posting the second in a series of wedding invitations inspired by British fabric patterns. Today we take a look at pinstripe. Most often associated with the business attire of men's suits, pintripe is making appearances in more fashion-forward designs (see the plethora in Milan's 2013 spring fashion week!)
In this wedding invitation, pinstripe maintains a low, classic profile in shades of charcoal and light gray, with elegant serif and script lettering. The less-conventional diamond shape in the background lends a modern edge to the otherwise traditional motif, and pairs with a charcoal chalkboard envelope liner for the perfect blend of old guard and avante garde.
We took a quick trip to visit friends in southern California last weekend, and included a one-day stop in San Diego, where I had never been. We drove to the Mexican border just to say I'd been there (my husband lived there for a few years, so it was really just to indulge me) ate and watched the World Cup at El Indio, the MOST delicious Mexican restaurant (thank you Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives), walked from our hotel to Seaport Village and along the Embarcadero, and enjoyed the gentle sunshine and sea breeze.
Now that we're back, I can't help but post this brand-spanking-new nautical wedding invitation to celebrate all things seafaring and sunny. With a monogram crest in pale pink and a border of navy-and-white stripes, it's the perfect way to introduce your beautiful wedding by the sea (with matching monogram labels to boot!)
Tweed makes me think of rainy mornings, thick socks, and shelves full of books to read and nothing better to do than read them. It also makes me think of London, which occupies a very fond place in my heart. Seven weeks there for a study abroad program in college and I was sunk.
To celebrate all things UK, I'm developing a new line of wedding stationery inspired by timeless British fabric patterns, which are often repeated in fashion and, dare I venture, should be in paper too. First in the lineup: Tweed. This particular wedding invitation design in muted shades of white, light gray and charcoal, is heavily traditional, but pairs well with popular trends like chalkboard (seen in the envelope liner) and cheery script fonts. Voila: Best of both the classic and trendy worlds in one swoop.
May weddings! Take a peek at this invitation to Jon & Samantha's couples' bridal shower (and please pardon the iPhone photos. It's been one of those days...)
Spring is such a thrilling time, don't you think? I was visiting in Portland, Oregon last week, and the cherry and plum blossoms were out in full force - gorgeous! Snowy pinks and whites and purples everywhere. To celebrate warmer days and growing things, here's a sweet pink cherry blossom and watercolor-inspired wedding invitation.
Since the snow has decided to come back, we might as well embrace it, true? A few weeks ago I met Kristina Curtis of Kristina Curtis Photography, and had the privilege of providing a wedding invitation suite for one of her inspiration shoots. To send you into your undoubtedly frigid weekend with thoughts of cozy fires and fur throws, here are a few images from the collaboration. (You can see more from the shoot here.)
I've recently had the chance to work with the fabulous Shannon of Shannon Elizabeth Photography. Yesterday she staged a mid-century modern inspiration shoot for which I got to provide the invitations (so lucky!) Here's a sneak peek from Shannon's Facebook page, with more to come!
Those cheeks! So kissable! Here's a nautical-inspired, navy blue, white and gold foil birth announcement for a darling little boy.
